Galić
The story of the Galić winery begins in 2007, when entrepreneur Josip Galić, after selling his company and at a turning point in his life, decided to continue the family tradition of viticulture from his childhood spent in his grandfather's and father's vineyard. The first harvests in 2008 showed that he was on the right track, and what began as a modest production in the unremarkable area of the village of Lukač has grown into one of the most modernly equipped wineries in Croatia, located in the very heart of Kutjevo, in the Vallis Aurea valley, the cradle of Croatian winemaking since 1232, when the Cistercians built the first abbey and wine cellar here. Today, the winery cultivates 60 hectares of its own vineyards on the slopes of Krndija, in close collaboration with leading oenologists such as Slaven Jeličić, who manages continuous experiments with clones of indigenous grapes and various vinification techniques, from stainless steel and concrete eggs to barrique barrels. The winery's trademark became the number 9, the lucky number of its founder, present in the names of the flagship labels Bijelo 9 and Crno 9.
