Darnekuša is a wine produced from the eponymous rarity of the autochthonous Hvar grape variety, exclusively for the island of Hvar. It is special because it grows at 560 meters above sea level, on probably the highest Croatian vineyards with climatic characteristics of a continental climate. Unlike Plavac, the color of this wine is not given by the skin, but by the ruby-colored flesh. Before bottling, the wine ages for a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks.
Recommended with meat and blue fish dishes.
