Achleiten the legendary location of Weissenkirchen, Wachau Valley. World famous for wines with unique mineral character. The vineyards are planted on terraced dry walls dating back to the 12th century. The composition of the soil is dominated by silicates, on the upper terraces metamorphic rocks predominate, while on the lower terraces dark, slaty amphibolites (minerals from the silicate group) dominate. Minerality with hints of smoke, subtle notes of flint and a very complex structure are typical of Achleiten wines. Fine herbal spicy tones, gentle notes of stone fruit, delicate exotic aromas and pronounced acidity make these wines special.
