Dom Pérignon

Dom Pérignon is named after the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon , who in 1668 was appointed treasurer of Hautvillers Abbey and dedicated the next 47 years to creating "the best wine in the world". Although, contrary to popular myth, he did not invent the method of producing sparkling wine, he laid the foundations for many of the techniques that still shape Champagne today , from the use of cork to the blending of different vineyards. The first vintage of Dom Pérignon dates back to 1921, and since then the house has followed one unwavering principle: it is produced exclusively as a vintage Champagne, only in years that the head cellar master ( Chef de Cave) considers exceptional, making each vintage a unique testament to that particular harvest. The grapes come exclusively from the top Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites of the Champagne region, and each vintage is aged for a minimum of eight years on the lees before being released, a process that gives it its distinctive complexity, minerality and longevity. Thanks to such an uncompromising philosophy, Dom Pérignon today symbolizes the pinnacle of French luxury and is one of the most prestigious champagnes in the world.
