Bumbu

In the 16th and 17th centuries, sailors in the West Indies weren't satisfied with their daily ration of strong rum, so they enhanced it with local spices and fruits, creating a drink they called " bumbu ." It is this pirate tradition that inspired modern Bumbu rum, whose flavor is born in Barbados, the birthplace of rum, at the historic West Indies Rum Distillery . What makes Bumbu unique is the sugar cane carefully selected from eight different countries, from Barbados and Belize to Brazil and Honduras, with each region bringing its own mineral character and sweetness to the blend . The rum is then aged for up to 15 years in American white oak barrels that previously contained bourbon , and the final blend is further enriched with natural Caribbean spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg, without artificial colors or flavors.
