Franck

Franck's history begins in 1827, when a young German entrepreneur Johann Heinrich Franck first managed to process the medicinal plant chicory into a hot beverage. The Zagreb factory was opened in 1892 on the then outskirts of the city, on Vodovodna Street, where the company's headquarters are still located today, and officially began operating in 1893, processing chicory for the markets of the entire Habsburg Monarchy. Until World War II, Franck was exclusively engaged in the production of coffee, but in 1960, industrial processing of real coffee began, which has since become the company's main product and symbol. Over the decades, Franck has expanded its range to include teas, instant drinks and cappuccino lines, and today it is the undisputed leader in the Croatian coffee and tea market, with daily consumption of over a million cups throughout the region. What makes Franck special is its deep roots in Zagreb's everyday life, from the legendary Jubilee Coffee, popularly nicknamed "Ciglica" due to its recognizable shape and red color, to the renovated city café Johann Franck on Ban Jelačić Square, a place that today cherishes the spirit of traditional Zagreb café life.
