Feravino

The roots of the Feravino winery go back deep into the 18th century, when the Cistercians and Templars brought the first traces of wine culture to the Slavonian region. In 1804, a cellar was built in Feričanci, which still stands today as a witness to those beginnings, and it was this space that formed the foundation on which the modern Feravino winery was founded in 1996. Located between the slopes of Krndija and Papuk, this continental winery has built its reputation on a special love for Frankovka, an indigenous variety that has found its true home on this terroir , as well as on Graševina, the cellar's other leading variety. Feravino today cultivates around 160 hectares of vineyards spread over three locations, Feričanci, Zoljan and Ceremošnjak , with an equal share of white and red varieties, with an annual production of almost a million liters, despite which the grapes are still mostly hand- picked , making Feravino one of the few large Croatian wineries that has retained this approach. Throughout history, Feričanac wine has also inspired the composer Franz Liszt , a frequent guest of the local noble family Mihalović , which gives this winery a special cultural stamp.
