Dourthe

The story of the House of Dourthe begins in 1840, when Pierre Dourthe opened his first wine shop in Bordeaux, a business that generations of the family have continued to develop to this day. The turning point came in 1929, when the fourth generation, Roger and André Dourthe , purchased the Château Maucaillou in Moulis and moved the business to the heart of the Médoc vineyards , and by 1987, Dourthe had become the region's leading wine house. That same year, the house launched the revolutionary Dourthe N°1 project, creating an entirely new style of dry white Bordeaux wine in collaboration with top oenologists, including the legendary Michel Rolland. Over the decades, Dourthe took over the management of a number of prestigious estates such as Château Belgrave , Château La Garde and Château Pey La Tour, and has been part of the Alain Thiénot family champagne -Bordeaux group since 2007. The philosophy of the house is based on a deep connection with the soil and microclimate of each location, with a creative but disciplined approach to blending that has made the " Dourthe style " synonymous with reliable, consistent quality Bordeaux.
