Damjanić

The Damjanić family's wine story dates back to the 18th century, when the Jurković family in the village of Fuškulina near Poreč planted vineyards that were then famous beyond Istria, all the way to 1928, when their wine won the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris. World War II interrupted this tradition for more than half a century, but at the beginning of the new millennium, a descendant of the family, young winemaker Ivan Damjanić, decided to revive the legacy and in 2004 founded the winery that today bears the family name. What makes Damjanić unique is his authorial, almost enologically precise approach, each wine has a pronounced varietal character shaped by the red Istrian soil, the proximity of the sea and the careful selection of the moment of harvest. The result is a winery that today has over 13 hectares of vineyards and combines traditional varieties such as Malvasia, Burgundy and Teran with revitalized Duranija , an almost forgotten Istrian variety that Damjanić brought back to the scene. Awards such as gold medals at Decanter , International Wine Challenge and Frankfurt Wine , Spirits and Beer The Trophy confirms that Damjanić wines are among the most recognizable Istrian labels today.
