Chivas Brothers
The story of Chivas Brothers begins in 1801 in Aberdeen, where brothers John and James Chivas ran a delicatessen that supplied a wealthy clientele with fine food, French cognacs and exotic spices. From this trading tradition in the 1850s, their first proprietary blend of whisky was born, and their business excellence was confirmed in 1843 by a Royal Charter from Queen Victoria. A turning point in the brand's history came in 1909, when master blender Charles Howard created Chivas Regal, a blend that is considered the world's first luxury Scotch whisky. The heart of every Chivas Regal blend today is the Strathisla distillery in Speyside , the oldest distillery in the Scottish Highlands since 1786, whose single malt whisky, renowned for its sweetness and fruitiness , gives the entire range its distinctive character.
