Benvenuti

In the peaceful Istrian village of Kaldir , overlooking the Motovun hill, the Benvenuti family has been creating wines that speak the language of their region for three generations. The family planted their first vineyard back in 1946, but it was not until 2003 that Albert and Nikola Benvenuti , sons of the late Livio, produced the first labels under the family surname, dedicating themselves entirely to preserving the original Istrian varieties, Malvasia Istria, Teran and Muscat. The vineyards are located on some of the highest positions in Istria, such as the San Salvatore hill at 400 meters above sea level, where steep, terraced slopes and carbonate soil rich in limestone give the wines a pronounced minerality and distinctive character. Thanks to the traditional approach to maturation in older, aromatically neutral oak barrels, Benvenuti wines manage to fully express the authenticity of their terroir , without the unnecessary influence of the wood on the primary aroma. The result is a range that regularly wins international awards and represents Istrian viticulture on a global scale.
